Anne says, "Whether I am painting Michigan, California, or the Cumberland Mountains, I feel connected to the subject - its structure and the questions swirling in my mind about the significance of life." Anne's roots are the source for much of her subject matter. As the daughter of a civil engineer, she frequently moved with her family throughout the South. While much of her young adult life was focused on her own family, entrepreneurship runs in her veins. Her diverse business interests have included importing handicrafts from women's cooperatives in Bangladesh, growing four acres of gladiolas (planted and weeded by hand!), a custom painted furniture business, and owning and operating two retail stores. At the age of fifty-two, Anne completed her degree in Fine Art. "I do believe that my variety of business experiences and travels have enriched my life and spawned my creativity," says Anne. "I love God, enjoy people, and thrive on the variety of cultures, literature, and landscapes encountered every day." |
